Don’t let your present circumstances beat you down. I remember seeing a patient who struggled with drugs, but they had been clean in the past but somehow got back to it. I reminded them of their past success and encouraged them that they have that power within them to make that change. The person was very grateful and thanked me for the encouraging words. It was fulfilling that my words were meaningful to the patient.
It is easy to lose hope and self-confidence and not see any headway. Remind yourself of your past achievements. If you were successful before, then you can do it again! Do not just sit there to wallow in self-pity or quit! You have the power to rise up again and hold your head up high. Reach out for the help (professional and/or spiritual) you need and take your life back!
